Madeleine von Hagen
June 16, 1928 - March 1, 2016
(née Lussier)
June 18, 1926 – March 1, 2016
Madeleine died peacefully at Forest Hill nursing home in Ottawa with Wally – love of her life, nearby and her daughter Karen at her bedside.
Madeleine was the creative, endlessly curious and always loving mother of Linda (Chris), Karen (Dino) and the late Dane; and loving grandmaman of Patty, Erin, Patricia, Janet, Edward and Mitchel.
She travelled the globe with Wally, making good friends by the dozens in the countries they worked in or simply visited – especially through the Friendship Force. She loved card games (esp. bridge), working with stained glass and exploring and mastering many of the creative needlework arts. We are lucky to have many of her creations to enjoy.
Madeleine lived a long and full life – albeit with some pretty tough patches, but her partnership with, and love for Wally always sustained her. She will be remembered.
The last few years in Mom’s journey were far easier for the support and care of three sisters: Melecia, Meddie and Prima and also Angie and the dozens of caring staff at Forest Hill and Westwood. We deeply appreciate your love and support and mourn our collective loss.
A private service and interment will take place in the spring. In memoriam donations to the Alzheimer Society would be welcome.
